Latitude Technologies completes LWS Sentinel platform development
March 12, 2003Latitude Technologies has completed development and initial testing of the core technology of Latitude’s wireless network data server application to be branded and sold as LWS Sentinel. Customer beta-testing will begin immediately. Latitude expects to introduce LWS Sentinel as a subscription-based service by mid-year 2003.
LWS Sentinel is intended as an entry-level, turnkey server destination for geo-positioning and other operator-data transmitted by Latitude’s signature product, SkyNode LMC, and all proprietary LMC products. Latitude Mobile Controller (LMC) devices connect directly to existing satcom and cellular devices, allowing aircraft, ground vehicles and marine craft to deliver geo-positioning and telematics data over the voice channel to a designated data collection point.
LWS Sentinel has been designed to easily interface to most commercial and known proprietary map-generating solutions. To further support the mission-critical requirements of many of Latitude’s customers, development is now underway for an SMS auto-alert utility. This will allow either an LMC device or LWS Sentinel to send event-driven SMS alerts directly to the customer’s desktop, PDA or mobile phone. For operators without existing telemetry data collection and processing capability, LWS Sentinel will provide a reliable and affordable solution.
