Aircraft have become an essential tool in the combat of wildfires. A key part of their use relies on effective situational awareness and coordination of resources provided by automated flight following (AFF). Latitude pioneered AFF back in 2001 and continues to innovate in the sector with the next generation Smart AFF ™. Smart AFF ™ goes beyond basic tracking with tools to assess the effectiveness of aerial resources. Smart AFF ™ collects an array of data related to drop events and uses these as inputs to our Advanced Air Tanker Information System (AATIS) to provide real time key performance metrics. This allows incident commanders to effectively target appropriate resources and aircraft operators an opportunity to highlight their capabilities and cost effectiveness.

The IONode100 collects a variety of airframe and Bambi/tank systems data then sends this data via satellite to the Web Sentinel 3.0 drop track tool kit for event reporting.
Tracking data can be forwarded to forestry agencies, and/or viewed in our Web Sentinel Data Management software.
